The moment.

Sometimes i don't understand myself at all, i'm not sure what i was thinking or about to think.
Do the words that came out from my mouth speak what was in my brain? I'm not sure.

These few days ive been watching movies. It's been awhile since i watch any real movies. I was seeking for something which i will never know, and movie therapy is the only way. As i was watching my third movie, Amelie it left me in a depressive feeling in the end. It was a happy ending but the last 10mins of the film just made me stuck in a melancholic state.

I guess my current state of mind pretty much related to this character. Do i rather imagine myself with someone that is absent rather than building a real relationship with people around me? Or my heart will be dry and brittle like Raymond's bone...

I just wish the moment will last a little bit longer. Just a little bit.

I'm such a coward.

Moonrise Kingdom by Wes Anderson.

How excited i am to finally watch this trailer, never thought that the main characters are two kids(from imdb).

Enjoy this amazing new-coming-soon film by Wes Anderson:

Kitty at the end!

My movie muse.

I miss me time, a great movie plus a great weather. Just me, no annoying audiences but i don't mind a film lover. I not talking about blockbuster, that you need wide audiences for big time action movie, boom boom pow. The sound effect blends with the perpetual tactless conversation of the inconsiderate couples (pile up together like two hairy stitch on boobs from the back) that sit beside you, usually repeating what happened on the screen. They look like this:

*Based on personal experience.

"Honey ! why dog can talk?"
"I not sure baby! very amazing!"
"Is talking again! so cute!"

I know why people stab a person to death, there always a reason behind or just plain simple, to make it stop talking. And yea, i hated the movie 'Up' by Disney.

"Shut up."
"Dear why is that girl so fierce?"
"I don't know, we better not talk now."

Hell yeah i knew why.
Tips for watching movie (genre: 3d animation by disney) at cinema : Avoid lovely couples at all cost. Change your seat if you encounter any. Change your ticket if you can't get any other seats (preferably 2 rows apart). If all else failed, watch the movie at your own risk.

Okay back to my own movie time. I like it on a lovely rainy morning or chilly breezy midnight, which like right now. Planning to watch The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou by Wes Anderson & which mean i'll finish up all Wes Anderson's movies, for now. I think i talked about him before, one of my favorite american film director. His movies are all personal, great story, great visual and always feature interesting characters. I love how his movies gave me feeling nostalgic, a sense of belonging, bitter yet sweet at the same time.

My favourites by Wes Anderson:

The Darjeeling Limited.

Makes me want to go on a train ride, trans-siberia? :)

The Royal Tenenbaums.

Gwyneth Paltorw looking good here.

* This film is perfect.

&

Rushmore.
Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Bottle Rocket.
Hotel Chevalier (short).

Last but not least, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou:

If with the title alone, don't think i'll ever watch this movie. Who the hell is steve zissou anyway but i'm gonna watch it anyway. Just love wes anderson's idiosyncratic style of storytelling in his film.

Time to relax and watch a movie! Have a great weekend guys.

Les Amours Imaginaires by Xavier Dolan

I watched this film (Eng title: Heartbeats) few days ago, gotta say it's been awhile since i watch any slow, love hate relationship screwing with your brain kind of movie. I kinda enjoyed it.

Is about these two good friends, a boy and a girl, fell and desire for the same new-comer in the town, a cute blonde dude. & how envious kick in between them, both fighting their own ways to impress and approach the cutie. In the end will the friendship survive the bittersoursweetness of the imaginative love they had?

I kinda amused by the shots of random people telling their disastrous relationship story in between the story. Especially the girl with the spec, she is rock and roll. :) one downfall of this movie is, too many unnecessary slow-mo in some scene, made me want to fast forward in few parts.

Boy: I think i like you, do you think you can like me as the same? I sick of rejection, i just want to find someone to be with & winter is coming... you don't want to be lonely and cold do ya? So, do you think we can be together?

Boy: ..... How can you think that i'm gay? How could you?

Cheers for breakfast in the bed.

4.5/10 :)

Accio You.

This is nerdy, the title & i know but i just watched Harry Potter - The Deathly Hallows Part 1. The whole movie was dark and yea dark. Overall, i think they did a fair job in the plot and the story even though they changed, minimized, took out some of the story in the book. Well you can't cramp everything in one 2 & half hour movie. Since i am a Harry Potter fans ( hahaaa yea i can have magic) I BLOODY WANNA WATCH THE 2ND PART NOW!

but this post is not a review about the movie. Is about muggle's emotional feelings. I can't believe i just typed that.Cause of this movie, i finally got to hang out with my old pals from uni. I miss them a lot, my ex housemates, coursemates. It was nice to listen and talk to them again. We all are fine, doing fine in the phase of a new transition, carefree little bastards to adult working responsibility-suck's metamorphosis. Are we?

I really do miss my friends but i am bad at maintaining a relationship yet i have few close friends. I am lucky. Speaking of luck, i just won two free tickets to watch Let Me In (not a new movie). I am lucky, i guess.

And you can get funny caption from your friend :" Are you my pikachu? Coz baby i choose you."

Buas by Charukphong Anuvong.

Congratulation my dear awesome posum buddy for winning the Best Animated Film award in the 23rd Film Festival Malaysia!!!! Words can't describe how happy and proud i feel for Charuk. I know he worked very hard for this short animation and it shows!

I love the story, simple yet impactful. Can't wait to see what he can do with full length film, and yes you promised me you gonna do it! DO IT BRO! I'm sorry i can't be there, i truly wanna be there and witness this glorious moment with you!

Here recap of this heart-felt warming 2d animation, BUAS, a little tale of vengeance and love, forgive and forget:

p.s now you have no excuse to not start your short film!  *wink  i wish i can hug u now!

Black Swan by Darren Aronofsky.

One thing i hate about here is - they will never screen all those awesome movies in the cinema.

Black Swan, one of my most anticipated movie end-of-the-year 2010.

The movie is about ballerina dancer, Nina (Natalie Portman). With a former professional ballerina as mother, her life is suffocate with her mother's demand. Nina was selected as the main dancer for a new play, Swan Lake. Not long after came a new rivalry, Lily (Kunis). Nina was intrigued and competitive with the arrival of Lily. She wants to be perfect, and everything went twisted and weird. ( that is the synopsis...from the trailer, i think)

I think this movie is scary yet stunning (i am a timid person whn comes to horror). The posters of Black Swan are frighteningly beautiful, don't you agree? Stare at her eyes! Natalie Portman will fit this role perfectly. Can't wait for the movie!

Everyone want to be perfect in some way. Yes, I just want to be perfect.

Wes Anderson!

Notice that he like to use earth tone color, yellow, orange, brown in his movies. Is bright but is gloom.

Nevertheless i like it.

* I got my first job interview on the coming Monday. Butterfly in my stomach.

The Fall by Tarsem Singh.

"A little blessing in disguise "

An amazing movie that i wanted to talk about for a long time (or i already talked about it?). I just *cough* downloaded *cough* this movie and i rewatch it again, today. Of course i would get the HD dvd / bluray version if i can find it.

The Fall a movie by Tarsem Singh, present by David Fincher and Spike Jonze is about a tale of a tale during the early 19th century in Los Angeles. Setting in the hospital, an injured stuntman make friend with a 5 years little girl with damaged arm and begins to tell her extraordinary story about 5 great heroic friends (with weird background). The epic adventure begins in the story told by the young man but without the will of living in the real world, he deceived the little girl into helping him getting... Okay spoiler alert.

I want to highlight some of my favourite parts:

1/ The opening scene of the movie. Black and white, slow motion capture every single movement and sequence perfectly frame the mood of the whole movie :) and the triumphant Symphony No.7 by Beethoven.

2/ The part when the young man was telling the story and when the film visualizing the tales, some parts were interrupted by the little girl when she not satisfied with the storyline. So the story of the storytelling intertwine with reality and make funny drastic changes.

3/ The location, setting of the movie...SUPERBLY AMAZING. So unreal but the director said he did not use any CG on the location. Love the vast desert with the contrast of colors.

4/ And the ending with the footages of the oldern stuntman in black and white again with the emotional driven soundtrack by Ludwig Van Beethoven. Masterpiece!

The Fall is visually stunning with captivating story bitterly sweet at the same time. Once again thank you my dear friend Charukphong for introducing this movie to me :) Love it.

This is the best rendition of the song:

Some fun trivia about this movie:

1/ The film was shot on 26 locations over 18 countries.

2/The director claims that there are no special effects in the film despite its surreal looks. Everything was shot on real locations.

Quote from here.

Salute!

Salute to all the fanboys/girls out there for making this awesome Star Wars Uncut!

A compilation of all the scenes submitted by filmmakers around the world and snow roll into one big kick ass Star Wars! Wootz! (why i dint know about this project earlier?)

Enjoy the show! I'm on my way to mind blasting bombastic excellent show!

Salt and wolf cub.

First, I want to thank Nuffnang for the free Salt premiere tickets (2 tickets)! I'll will be at the premiere screening of Salt on 26 July 2010, 9pm. Who will be my plus one? :)

Oh. I had the weirdest dream yesterday, is the combination of chasing speed cars (mercedez), wolf, hyena and me with belt. I was driving this kind of old model huge mercedez with my sister, and there were people who try to steal or sabotage the car. I speed around highway and loose them. Back to my own house theres a mother wolf lying on the floor, a hyena came and snatch out a wolf cub from the wolf's stomach (scary). Me and my dad saw the incident and my dad asked me to chase away the hyena..i took a belt and tried to whack at the hyena. Finally he dropped the baby wolf cub on the floor. Oh ya btw it was black fur wolf. Later, i took in the baby cub with me cause the mother wolf died or ran away.

The baby wolf cub is the cutest thing!! It was so surreal when one part of the dream the baby wolf cub got bigger and furry. Then we rest on a field of grass, playing around with each other, it climbed on top of me and use its nose rubbed against my nose :) i felt warm and happy. so cute.

Woke up and still feeling warm and happy..that little black baby wolf made my day.

Strange, but so real in the dream! I want a wolf baby~

Exactly around this big the baby wolf.

I'm gonna miss you :(

Deliver me a letter.

A postman riding a bicycle,

Across the sea and the breeze,

Fighting through the hills and bumps,

Mail box at the peak of the city,

He delivered his first love letter.

I miss watching Il Postino i guess. :)

What if i'm a Russian Spy?

Do you every think that among us, there always one person that you never really know who she really is? Well think about me, I always late for class, missing in action and 5mins ago i was with you and 5mins later 'poof' i'm gone!? Don't you think there is something special about me?

(So you think: Late for class because of the midnight oil, missing in action because stay at home playing the latest PS3 game, gone halfway in shoppingmall because she have to poop.)

Skeptical? CTRL + A to see the hidden message.

Ahem. Yes, i am a Russian spy. The reason for all that is because i currently on a mission. Yes, a mission handed down to me, only me by my dear Mother Russia. I am telling you this because is part of my mission.

My mission is simple, we call it Mission 'Nuffsaid':

2. Join Nuffnang.
3. Be low-profile as possible while waiting for the right moment.
4. When you see the code word 'Salt', activate 'Grab' movement.

5. 'Grab' movement: Deceive Nuffnang's staff and make them believe that you are joining the competition.
6. Then GRAB the movie screening of Salt.
7. Final mission: Retrieve Angelina Jolie's badass hotness from the movie back to Russia.

but my ultimate secret mission entrusted by my dear mother Russia is, codename: Bloggie.

I can't tell you more about this mission. Is too dangerous for you to know more. Less is more. Fear not. Your pc won't explode in 10seconds after u read this message. In fact, i will pass down my super secret spy knowledge to you! Click on the video below to know more, well click at your own risk:

I recorded this while in refugee under KL city. Listen carefully for the hidden message.

First rule to be a spy: Never reveal your identity.

Over.

Chungking Express + Passion Pit.

I made this. I cant help it. I love this movie so much :)

Passion Pit cover the song by The Cranberries - Dreams which cover by Faye Wong too (cantonese version) for Chungking Express.

Passion Pit got more electronic tones in it, so i thought Hey why not mix it up:

Hope the fans like it ~

Alfredo.

I was talking about movies with my friend Aijew just now. He told me about lately he's been searching for growing up movies. You know those movies about the transformation and change of growing older from childhood to adulthood. They actually have a term for those kind of genre, Bildungsroman. Sounds very, very unrelated. Thanks Aijew for the enlightenment.

Anyway, he introduced the movie Risky Business (1983) and i recommended him Cinema Paradiso(1988). Everytime when i talk about Cinema Paradiso, it just gives me this chill and satisfaction. I love this movie so much, one of my all time favourite movie with my favourite movie character of all time - Alfredo by Philippe Noiret.

Alfredo and Toto. My fav scene from the movie!

I'm kinda google him up abit and found out that he had passed away on November 2006. Such a great lost to the film industry. He was indeed a very great actor. He appeared in Il Postino too! I love that movie.

Great thing about movie is, the story live on. Forever in my heart there will always be Alfredo! This post is dedicated for Philippe Noiret.

Alfredo and Toto theme song!

Back to my Movie!

Friday i watched Youth in Revolt (till 5am in the morning), consequences were i got super tired on my weekend trip. Anyway that movie was, how to say: Youthful and dumb.

Spoiler: How can the boy, Nick gone so far (dumbass or do i not have any romantic sense) for that girl!? Well, he definitely got laid after that. I din't expect much cause i label this movie as a no-brainer movie which for me, humour, fun, playful kind of movie, you know for people to chill. Fun part maybe 50%, humour 40%, 10% awkward acting of Michael Cera. He trying to be a badass here but is not really working very well together with the formula of badass? I laughed when he tried to be funny and told the girl his name was Dillinger and thats the only funny part i can remember. In the end, it got me feeling a little:

"Darn i should do more vicious thing to make my youth worth! Anything i just gonna be in juvenile court..wait DAMN i am 22 this year."

Alright! Back to my Giuseppe's Baaria movie which i dint get to watch on Friday!  Should i buy Dim Sum and munch while watching this movie? snack + drink + company + movie = awesome time. For now minus the company, i definitely need a good snack to make it awesome. hehe.

DIM SUM HERE I COME!

p.s is 12am now and yesh we do have midnight dimsum here! Taste like awesome.

Movies time!

I played enough of DOTA, i play better than your brother. Now is time for my movie spree.

.1 Youth in Revolt
.2 Baaria

FYI. I love love Giuseppe Tornatore movies!

Scott PIlgrim Vs. The World Movie!

Remember the first teaser trailer of this movie? I wasn't that excited but kinda skeptical about the fun part but after watching this 2nd awesome full length trailer from the movie! I can't wait till August 13th for the movie~

I think this gonna be a fun trip :) Are you as excited as me? At the meantime, do read this! Is funny and true in a way: Scott Pilgrim Guide to Life.

*the music in the trailer sounds familiar..any idea?

A story about vengeance.

My lovely and talented friend - Charukphong's short 2d animation film. Check it out! (but this is the shorter version, he cut out a few scenes to join competition)

Watch more cool animation and creative cartoons at Aniboom

“Buas” is a tale of vengeance and love. When an old man was given a second chance to avenge his wife’s death, memories of his past comes to play, revealing pieces of his forgotten memory of a dreadful tragedy. - Charukphong

Personally, i really like it. The choice of soundtrack is very good too, it got me in the mood. The best scene for me is when the old man running towards his wife. I actually went teary when the wife wiped away the old man's tears. The animation itself is interesting because of the layers and give the film a sense of depth..niceee.

Just spare your 3min and check out this wonderful story from my friend ya~

I like fox! Ever since the Disney movie about a fox and a hound?

Oh my oh my, i always love stop motion film! Think about the efforts and time spend on animating this kind of film, i salute them. As for this film, it was Wes Anderson's first stop motion film, so is 20th Century Fox. Fox's first stopmotion film is something about fox!

Personally i love everything about this film, regardless of the rigid movement of the characters but the set and props was stunning. Well the movie is based on the book by Roald Dahl's. Never read the book before but i think the story was very good.

Even the soundtracks were awesome. It was comical, funny, not draggy. A must watch!

I like this director. Somehow theres a touch of something special in his films like The Darjeeling Limited.
